Ertech Construction Academy Student Honoured for Excellence in Vocational Training

Western Australia’s top vocational education student for 2018, Jess Haydon, has completed civil construction qualifications through the Ertech Construction Academy.

He was presented with the prestigious Beazley Medal: VETby His Excellency the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia and WA Minister for Education and Training, the Honourable Sue Ellery MLC at a ceremony in Kings Park.

The Beazley Medal VET is awarded by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority for overall excellence in studies that include vocational training qualifications and other Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) achievements.

As a student at the Swan Valley Anglican Community School, Jess was able to complete the Certificate II in Civil Construction via the Ertech Construction Academy’s accredited training program. The Academy provides students in Years 11 and 12 the opportunity to achieve this nationally-recognised qualification through on-site training and workplace experience while still at high school.

Founder of the Ertech Construction Academy, Jim Giumelli, said Jess was a high achiever and deserves this recognition for excellence. “We are delighted that Jess is joining Ertech, assigned initially to a remote resources site in WA”.

Since inception the Ertech Construction Academy has been successful in finding 140 young West Australians employment pathways in the Civil Construction Industry. The 2018 graduates achieved 100% completion and employment rates.
